Discover the rich and natural wonders of Sohoton Cove and bask in the white sands of Naked Island.
Adventure starts as soon as you set sail to Bucas Grande—the home to the 60-hectare Sohoton Cove. Along the way, check out beautiful neighboring islets that gives more vibrance to the area and go across turquoise lagoons.
The first stop in Sohoton Cove is the Jellyfish Sanctuary, where you can get a chance to see non-stinging jellyfishes upclose. To get there, you will ride a small paddle boat and cruise through narrow passageways, bordered by limestones. Swimming is not allowed in the area, especially when you have applied sunscreen, as chemical may be harmful to the thriving marine creatures.
Aside from lagoons, there are also interesting caves in Sohoton Cove, as well as diving and swimming spots to add spice to your adventure.
Hagukan Cave looks just like an ordinary cave from the outside, but exploring its interiors is definitely worth the energy. To enter the cave, you will have to swim through a narrow passageway that leads to its waters with luminescent glow, illuminating the dark. Just nearby is another cave called the Magkukuob Cave, which is covered with shimmering stalactites and stalagmites. To enter the cave, you have to wade in waist-level water, walk like a duck to reach the dry path and stand in the middle of a majestic rock formations. To go out of the cave, you will take a brief climb up a very steep path, and take a plunge from a platform suspended on a cliff that towers around 12ft.
If you are up for a more challenging spelunking, the Balitas Cave and the Crystal Cave are what you are looking for. Getting inside these caves are absolutely rewarding. Inside, you will witness the cawing of swiftlets, locally known as "Balinsasayaw birds", and be awe-strucked by the spectacular crystal formations and clear waters in the cave.
To cap off your day's adventure, visit the Naked Island, which is among the three most famous islands in Siargao. Unlike other islands, the Naked Island doesn't feature palm trees and towering rock formations. As its name suggests, it is indeed naked, but it boasts with powdery white sands, where you can chill and get a perfect tan. Enjoy instagram-worthy seascapes and take many photos as you can before heading back to Mainland Siargao.
